What to Look for in Hiring a Plumber?

January 10th, 2013 · No Comments · by

This is a good question. And we admit, we’re biased to answer it since we obviously want you to choose us, but we truly believe we are the best for you.

Here are some key things you should look for when hiring any plumber though.

Licensed.

A licensed plumber will be able to provide you much better quality work than someone who is not, and when it comes to the plumbing with your home, it’s worth it to choose licensed.

At DrainWorks, our team of plumbers in Toronto are all licensed.

Insured.

The last thing you want to happen to you is hire a plumber who is not insured and who makes a mistake and causes more damage to your home! With an insured plumber Toronto residents can rest assured that they are covered in the case of any sort of accident.

At DrainWorks, all our plumbers are licensed and insured to give you the utmost peace of mind.

Additional/Hidden Charges.

These are never fun and can really ruin your customer experience. Make sure to ask about these whenever hiring a plumber.

At DrainWorks, we realized this a long time ago, and in doing so we provide exact-to-the-penny pricing before starting any job. Surprises are nice at Christmas, but not at the end of a plumbing job.

Commission vs. Non-Commission.

This is a good question to ask before you hire a plumber. If a plumber’s salary is based on commission, it means they are going to try to sell you stuff you don’t necessarily need.

At DrainWorks, all our plumbers are commission-free, so we always recommend what is best for you and your home – not our pockets.

Reputation.

With all the reviews sites our there, it’s worth it to do a little homework before hiring a plumber. Find out how long the company has been in business, and what people are saying about them.

At DrainWorks, we invite you to take a look at our portfolio of reviews across Google+, EiEi Homes, and HomeStars. We’ve also been in business in Toronto for over 17 years.

Experience.

This relates to the one above, but some companies offering Toronto plumbing services have certain specialties. Look at the plumber’s website before you hire them to see what services they offer and which ones they do well.

At DrainWorks, we like to think of ourselves as complete plumbing experts with a natural specialty in drain cleaning services. Yet, as our motto states, “no job is too small”, so whether it’s fixing a leaky pipe, repairing a toilet, or undergoing a complete drain excavation and replacement, we’ve got you covered.

Knowledge.

It’s great when you get a plumber who knows what they’re doing and can explain precisely how and why they are doing what they are doing to fix your problem. It also helps to educate you on your home so you can make more educated decisions in the future.

At DrainWorks, our plumbers are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. But don’t take our word for it, check out some of our reviews to see just what people are saying!

Customer Service.

Quality of work is one thing, but adding a pleasant experience to the whole job really makes it effortless and hassle-free for you. Take notice of how the plumbing company answers your calls, responds to your questions, and arrives on the job.

At DrainWorks, customer service is our top priority alongside quality plumbing. Our plumbers will always greet you professionally and pleasantly. We have been known to explain thoroughly the work we do and any recommendations. We even wear little slippers over our boots while in your home to assure we do not dirty it, and we always make sure a job site looks even cleaner than before.

So there you have it. Whether you decide to work with us or not, these are a great set of rules to abide by for when you hire a plumber. Yet, we do hope you choose us. All of what you see above is what we call the DrainWorks Advantage.
